NEW YEAR'S EVE
\\DO I NEED TO BUY A TICKET FOR NEW YEAR’S EVE?
Yes. Go here for more information.
\\WHAT IS HAPPENING AT THE NEW YEAR’S EVE PARTY?
Fun. Excitement. Our favorite Miami band (Spam All-Stars) will be playing their Cuban-funk-fusion thing and there will be food and drink and merriment.
\\WHAT SHOULD I WEAR?
While there isn’t a set dress code on the website, it won’t hurt to follow the “Miami club” rules and overdress a bit:
-Men: Slacks or nice jeans, dress shirt, and dress shoes
-Women: Party dress and either heels or dressy flats
FIELD DAY
\\WHAT IS THIS FIELD DAY?
The Friday field day consists of two components. The first is a relaxed day at the beach—think family reunion picnic, with some team games and time for hanging out and getting to know other guests. These events will happen from 1-4p.
The second part is an early dinner to celebrate people’s Miami arrival and to kick off the wedding festivities. The dinner should begin around 4:00p. Because we are in a park, this is a BYOB event (remember no glass bottles!).
\\WHAT SHOULD I WEAR?
Dress code is casual. Note that we'll be outside and near the ocean and beach, so bring whatever you're comfortable in. Bring a suit if you want to go swimming.
WEDDING AND RECEPTION
\\WHERE AND WHEN IS THE WEDDING CEREMONY AND RECEPTION?
The ceremony and reception are both at the Miami Beach Botanical Garden. The address is 2000 Convention Center Dr, Miami Beach, FL 33139. The ceremony will start at 4p. The reception will end at 10p.
\\IS THE WEDDING OUTSIDE? WHAT WILL THE WEATHER BE LIKE?
Yes, the wedding will be outside. While we cannot predict the future, a cursory glance at the climate section from the Wikipedia page on Miami says that the average high around December and January is 77°F with an average low of 61°F. Plan to bring clothes for this temperature range.
\\WHAT IS THE DRESS CODE?
Dressy casual. Women should wear a dress or nice slacks and men should wear slacks, a shirt and tie. Jackets optional; looking good is not.
Linen is encouraged—we are in Miami after all. We do not recommend wearing heels—unless you really want to. As we said above, the wedding will be outside in the grass and there will be a small amount of walking. You may wear heels, just know to do it at your own risk.
\\IS THERE PARKING NEAR THE MIAMI BEACH BOTANICAL GARDEN?
There is a small, metered lot behind the garden. There is also a large parking garage located approximately one quarter of a mile from the ceremony site. Parking there is a $1/hr. Additionally, there is street parking located on neighboring streets. We encourage taking a cab or car share if you plan on drinking strongly.
AFTER PARTY
\\IS THERE AN AFTER PARTY?
Yes. We will cap the night off at one of our favorite local spots: The Purdy Lounge. It is located at 1811 Purdy Avenue, about three-quarters of a mile from the reception site. You must be 21+ to attend. There is no cover, although there is copious amounts of pop, funk, hip hop, dance and indie music played through their sound system. Please plan on continuing the dance vibes from before.
